“It was exactly what we wanted.” - Kaitlyn & Chiron

Google review for RXAphotography

Congratulations on your engagement!

It’s time to start the planning and the gathering of the team. The last thing you want at this point is an overwhelming list of options and confusion. Planning a wedding is stressful enough. You have enough decisions to make. I like to keep things simple.

Four things to know about your photographer

  1. Most importantly, your wedding day is about you, not me. Your day will run as you want it to. I will happily make suggestions as to how to maximise your wedding photography but in the end, the day is yours.

  2. I do not want to take you away from your guests for great periods of time. After the group and family photos have been completed, I would love 20 minutes with the full bridal party and then 25 minutes with you.

  3. I have the perfect personality for a wedding photographer and can work with and around any crowd. I can bring the energy if and when required or disappear into a corner when the moment calls for it.

  4. I love photographing weddings more than any one person should.

Hey, I have a few questions …

I’d be surprised if you didn’t! Let’s see if I can answer them for you below. If you’d rather skip these and move on to the pricing page, click here.

Are you vaccinated? Sure am. First, second and booster shots. My second photographer is also fully vaccinated.

How do I book you? So kind of you to ask! The easiest way is to fill out the contact form and I can take it from there.

Do you offer payment plans? Yes, I do. The standard payment arrangement is 50% to secure your date with the balance being due 5 days before the wedding. However, I am happy to set up a monthly payment plan with the balance being paid off in equal monthly instalments.

What payment methods are available? I accept cash, credit card (via my website or in person) or PayPal.

What is your preferred timeline? I like to spend the whole day with my couple but completely understand that this is not always what they want. Most couples gravitate towards my middle or top package which provides 10 or 14 hours of coverage respectively.

How long have you been doing this? I photographed my first wedding couple in 2008 and my most recent this year.

Do you have professional equipment? Yes, quite a few of them in fact. I shoot with a Nikon Z9 and Z6ii (with more on the way) at weddings, both professional-grade cameras. I also have a range of top-of-the-line Nikon lenses. I carry backup cameras, lenses, flashes and even clothing to each and every wedding in case of an emergency.

Are you loud? I assure you that my mood on the day will be completely appropriate to my situation. I can be energetic as required or as quiet and discreet all depending on the moment, the people in the room and what I need to ensure you get the best images. I am punctual, polite and if I dare say so myself, a bit on the funny side. Look at the photos scattered around the website, I probably caused most of that laughter.

But I aim to be just like a member of your gang. Fit in, have a laugh and take some photographs that will bring back memories for the rest of your lives.

Are you comfortable photographing same-sex weddings? Comfortable? I photographed my first same-sex wedding in November and had THE BEST TIME! I have been immersed in the ultra-inclusive community of roller derby since 2014 and love the people every minute I’m around them. Marriage in Australia is the coming together of two people, and I am all for whatever combination that is.

Are you happy to work with videographers? Based on experience, yes. I like to have a chat at the start of the day to make sure we are both on the same page and focusing (excuse the pun) on providing you with the best service. I am more than happy to step back and let them take the lead at times as it lets me capture more candid moments as you are not concentrating on me.

How long will it take to receive our photos? The turnaround depends on the package you purchase, but in most cases, six weeks is a good minimum. If you can not wait that long, I offer a one-week service that pushes your photos to the head of the queue for an additional fee.

Can you explain how this copyright thing works? What can we do with our photos? You can print and share your photos as many times as you like. I retain copyright ownership of the photos meaning I can do whatever I like with them (this typically comes down to using them on my website, social media and for advertising). In a nutshell, the only thing you can not do with your photographs is to make money from them. If that is ever on offer, hit me up. We’ll sort something out.

Do you have a second shooter or do you just look for one when we book? I typically do not have an assistant on a wedding day. I like to be able to move fast and never use complicated lighting setups. I travel as lightly as I can to ensure I’m not in people’s way. If you choose the package with a second shooter, I have my preferred photographer (who is a successful photographer in her own right and I am lucky enough to be married to her) and a couple of others I trust if my preferred photographer is not available on the day.

I have a question (or six) that has not been listed on this page. Can I ask you directly? Sure! Send me a message by clicking here and filling out the contact form and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Richard did such an amazing job with our wedding photographs. He was great at communicating during the planning of our wedding and was so accomodating to what we needed - even driving out to our new regional location when we changed our venue.
Both Richard and Miranda were able to make us feel more comfortable in front of the camera; an almost impossible feat given how extremely camera shy we both are.
We now have priceless moments captured in beautiful photographs and couldn’t be happier with the result!

“We can’t thank Richard enough for making us both feel comfortable in front of a camera. Our photos are beautiful, and captured all the different aspects and emotions of our day. From our first contact he was well organised, and helped us get our head around the wedding schedule. His impact on our day was huge, from 9am until 10pm he made us and our guests laugh and relax, like one big party. It was exactly what we wanted.”

“Richard went above and beyond for us as a photographer, he spent 14 hours shooting barely seeming to stop for a break so he wouldn’t miss a single moment of the wedding. Richard drove between three locations on the day starting very early at our place to capture some gorgeous photos with our fur babies. Everyone knew when and where they needed to be because of Richard’s amazing organisation. I didn’t feel stressed or like I needed to check the time myself as I knew Richard had it covered. Despite this fantastic time management, we had fun! It was hard to feel nervous when Richard was making us all smile.”
